
Abida Parveen
Abida Parveen is considered one of the torchbearers of Sufi music in the subcontinent. Her forte is Ghazal and Kafi singing. Abida Parveen sings in Urdu, Sindhi, Saraiki, Punjabi and Persian. She is arguably considered one of the finest Sufi vocalists of the modern era with a career spanning over four decades. Some of her most popular songs are a rendition of Bulleh Shah's poetry. She has been credited for popularizing the old folk in the young generation. She has been a judge on various popular musical shows in India. Pakistan's second highest civilian award the Hilal-e-Imtiaz has been bestowed upon her for her contribution to music.
